Want to have a say in what happens in your community? Want to help make real change in your neck of the woods? Want to help nonprofits and schools and churches in the neighborhood? The Westside Neighborhood Council is holding elections for the new 2010-2012 Board. Below is all the information you need to run for a WNC seat or how to cast your vote in the election this year. The Westside Neighborhood Council meets the second Thursday of every month at The Westside Pavilion. It encourages all of it's board members to join sub committees that deal with issues such as Traffic or Outreach or Land Use. These committees meet once a month or on a as needed basis. The WNC is charted and funded by the City and we take our responsibility to the community very seriously. Those seeking a seat should understand that there will be a time commitment required of them. This is an exciting and rewarding job and we hope many of you join in and share this wonderful experience. WNC Election Day is April 11th Westside Pavilion 10800 West Pico Blvd. Community Room A 3rd floor behind food court 10am-4pm You can vote by mail only if you can affirm that you are physically unable to get to the polling place due to a disability. VBM applications must be requested by phone 213-978-8050. These VBM applications will be available 60 days prior to the elections. These ballots must be received no later than Thursday April1 2010. To run for a seat you MUST fill out a candidate filing form (Click Here) You can also get this form at cityclerk.lacity.org Click on Neighborhood Council Elections and follow the prompts to get this form and other important information. Candidate Filing Period is January 11th to February 10th. You must provide proper identification to prove you are qualified to run for a seat. These requirements are included in the Candidate Filing Form. You can fax or snail mail these forms back to the city clerks office or you can go to a candidate information meeting scheduled for our area and drop it off with one of the representatives February 6th 9:30-11:30am There will be a second meeting TBD.
