In its nearly ten years of existence, the Westside Neighborhood Council (WNC) has had many successes, but maybe the most important achievement has been bringing representatives of the seven powerful local homeowner associations, Century City Condo associations, business community, schools, non-profits, religious institutions, LAPD and LAFD together to reach compromises and consensus on issues such that City agencies and others are forced to give weight to the stakeholder positions reached by the WNC.
The WNC is addressing important issues that affect the quality of life of our stakeholders. The WNC's Traffic Committee is working toward developing regional solutions to the traffic congestion problems existing in our area as well as the entire westside by garnering input from as many, diverse stakeholders as possible. The WNC's Land Use Committee is working with Planning Department and City council office to help assure all land use applications are passed by the committee, and by extension affected resident associations, before decisions are made. The WNC's Outreach committee is looking for ways to revitalize the businesses and storefronts on Westwood and Pico Boulevards so that those streets might form a coherent and aesthetically pleasing commercial environment as our own "shop and walk" small town in the big city.
The WNC meet at 7:00pm the 2nd Thursday of each month
at the
Westside Pavilion
Meeting Room A

The WNC has been awarded a $200K grant from The Million Tree Program to plant over 130 Flowering Pear trees on Pico Boulevard. The grant also includes a two year maintenance contract from the City to water and stake these trees so they will live long and prosperous lives down the Boulevard.
These trees are apart of a larger Pico Beautification Plan that was developed over the past four years by the WNC.
The scope of the Pico Plan is a 1.27 mile stretch from Patricia to the 405.
The goal of the Pico Beautification Plan is to make Pico more attractive and more safe for pedestrian traffic.
Stamped Crosswalks at designated intersections, Audible Signals, Improved ADA Ramps, replacing Missing Sidewalks and Pedestrian Lighting are just some of the aspects of the plan.

Please join the WNC on Plant Pico Day!
We need 100 volunteers to put in 20 of our new trees.
Each tree team of five people will have a TreePeople Expert to help them plant properly.
We will meet at the corner of Patricia and Pico at the Ranch park Golf Course. Event starts at 9am.
There will be food and beverage provided by local restaurants to fortify our mighty planters!
Special Guest Appearance by our councilman Paul Koretz
After our Plant Pico Day, the City will return throughout the month of February to plant the remaining trees.
This is a great way to show some community spirit and a terrific way for students to earn community hours!
Hope to see you on February 11th, 2012!
