Lisa Morocco |
|
Lisa Morocco has lived on the Westside since 1989 and is a new member of the Westside Neighborhood Council.
She is self employed and runs her own business from home. Lisa is a proud member of a grassroots association that tackles safety issues and has been a volunteer at UCLA with for over ten years.
She looks forward to working with local businesses to strengthen our business community. Lisa also serves as a Chairman of the Outreach Committee.

Steve Spector - |
|
Steve Spector is co founder of the WNC and chair from February 2005 to present. He was vice-chair on the WNC Planning Committee. Steve is an executive with Macerich Company, the local, public company that owns Westside Pavilion. Steve's alternate is Laurel Crary, the General Manager of Westside Pavilion. Macerich and Westside Pavilion desire to serve as a "town center" for the Westside and are big supporters of the WNC as a community forum wherein elected representatives of local residents, businesses, schools, religious organizations, non-profit organizations, police, fire department and the city council consider what actions can and should be taken on issues that matter to the stakeholders in our community.
Steve chairs the WNC Officers’ Meeting (which usually takes place one week before the monthly WNC Governing Board meetings). The WNC officers, elected by the WNC Governing Board, are: Steve Spector, Dick Harmetz, Bob Guerin, Melissa Kenady and Terri Tippit. The agenda for each monthly WNC Governing Board meeting is approved at the Officer’s Meeting. |

Letty Bugarin - |
|
Letty Bugarin serves as a Development Manager for Westfield, LLC, one of the world’s largest leading shopping center organizations, a portfolio of more than 120 regional shopping centers across four countries. She has worked on various projects for the company and is currently responsible for Westfield Century City Phase II, managing the project from the entitlement process through construction. Letty joined Westfield in May of 2004 with over nearly a decade of experience in construction and project management in northern and southern California in both the public and private sector. Letty earned her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Construction Management from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, California. She is currently a member of Urban Land Institute, National Association of Women in Construction, International Conference for Shopping Centers (ICSC) and has represented the company with the Mayor’s Day of Service volunteer efforts. A native of California, Ms. Bugarin currently resides in Southern California.

Barbara Broide - |

Barbara Broide is currently serving her second term as the elected representative for Seat #7 on the WNC. (She initially served as alternate to Seat #7 from the WNC’s inception in January 2003.) She is the Chair of the Council’s Traffic Study and is a member of the LAPD’s West Divison Traffic Committee. A long-time resident of the area active in civic affairs, Barbara is currently President of the Westwood South of Santa Monica Blvd. Homeowners Association (WSSM- www.westwoodsouth.org). She is former president of the UCLA School of Public Health Alumni Association and was appointed by Governor Brown to serve as Public Member to the California State Board of Food and Agriculture and the CDFA’s Consumer Advisory Committee, serving under both the Brown and Deukmejian administrations. She served as Executive Director of the American Cancer Society’s L.A. Coastal Cities Unit for 13 years and also established a Southern California office for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Her two soccer-loving teenaged sons call her a tree-hugger for her activities to save and plant trees in the community. |

Terri Tippit is co founder of the Westside Neighborhood Council and chair from January 2003 to February 2005. She chaired the WNC Planning Committee through the lengthy process of becoming certified by the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment. Terri has been an advocate for this community for over 30 years. She is president of the West of Westwood HOA (www.neighborhoodlink.com/la/wow), Chair of the Westwood Design Review Board, and on the West LA Community-Police Advisory Board, PTA President of Overland 1978-80 and served on the Marshall P. Riddick Youth House Board 1977-1992.Terri has served on numerous city task force addressing development on the Westside. She served as chair of the city task force that created the Pico/Westwood Neighborhood Overlay District, the first NOD in the city. On the WNC, Terri also served as a Chairman of the Outreach Committee. |

Richard Harmetz - |
|
Richard S Harmetz served four terms as president of the Tract No. 7260 Association and is currently its secretary. About twenty years ago, he chaired the 7260 committee that negotiated thirty-two conditions on the Century City Shopping Center that were imposed by the City. Those conditions included free parking for the first three hours. Dick was President of the American Center of Films for Children and Vice President of the International Center of Films for Children and Young People, a UNESCO affiliated organization headquartered in Paris. He headed International Children’s Film Festivals at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and taught a graduate course in children’s films at the Cinema Department of USC. He has written many freelance articles for the Los Angeles Times and was a film critic at the Los Angeles Free Press and a columnist for Boys Life. He taught at Los Angeles Trade Technical College for over three decades. Dick has two sons and a daughter all of whom went through the local public schools Although Dick holds both a BA and an MA from UCLA, all three of his children went to UC Berkeley. Dick and his wife Aljean have lived in the same house a block west of Century City for over forty years. They have two Shetland Sheep Dogs. |

Francois represents the residents of Century City. Francois became involved in the newly formed neighborhood council through his professional work, having moved to LA early in 2002 from New York . He has found his participation in the neighborhood council a valuable opportunity to learn more about his new neighborhood and to make new friends, people he ordinarily would not have met. There is a tremendous satisfaction to be gained by taking some responsibility for your surroundings, and making your own voice heard. You feel a sense of pride when you observe some community issue being resolved and you know that you have played a role in the dialogue. Bob Guerin, Chairman of the Budget Committee.
Bob Guerin: He represent area 13, and is the former Treasurer of WNC, as well as Chairman of the Budget Committee and currently serving as the Vice-Chair and a member of the Land Use Committee. He became involved in the WNC formation about a year before certification. Bob is a Board Member of the California Country Clubs Homes Association. Bob and his wife of 32 years have lived in area 13 for 31 years. Thinking they might need a change, they have promised each other that they would consider moving by the year 2035. He spent 9 years as a sole practitioner attorney and real estate broker, until he entered the business world as vice –president of Santa Monica Propeller and went on to form his own communication company known as Western Walkie Talkie & Page, Inc. After 15 years he sold the company and followed a path of consulting in the paging and cellular industries’, using all of his learned and licensed disciplines (telecommunications, law, and real estate). Currently he is working as a commercial leasing Broker/ Agent. Over the years he has served on and has held officer positions on Alumni and Civic Organizations, such as the old Hollywood Civic Service League. Bob feels that the WNC offers all of us on the Westside not only the opportunity to be involved in our local community but to also make a difference by being involved. |

Ron has been a member of Temple Isaiah for more than five years and has lived in the Westside Neighborhood for nearly a decade. Ron is an attorney and owns his own government affairs consulting business, Strategic Government Affairs, where he represents the interests of Fortune 500 companies and small businesses alike. Ron served as a Commissioner on the City of Los Angeles’ Board of Neighborhood Commissioners (BONC) for four years, overseeing the certification of more than 80 neighborhood councils – including the Westside Neighborhood Council. Ron worked on the staff of U.S. Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice) as a legislative assistant for nearly five years – both in Los Angeles and in Washington, D.C. |

Charles, aside from being the appointed School Representative for the WNC, is actively involved with and on the board of directors of: The West of Westwood (WOW) Homeowners Association, The Friends of Overland (FOO) fundraising organization of Overland Avenue Elementary School (where his son is a student) and Neighbors for Smart Rail (NFSR) - an organizaion of concerned citizens about Light Rail in the Westside. He is also a basketball coach for two teams at Cheviot Hills Recreation Center and has been coaching for the last ten years.

Annette was president of the Westwood Gardens Civic Association from 2000 to 2007. During her tenure she published quarterly newsletters and promoted other neighborhood communication and involvement efforts. She is a parent and involved at the local public schools (Overland, Palms MS, and Venice HS), especially with science and literacy. Annette was involved in the formation of WNC since January 2003 and involved in the two year process leading up to WNC certification. She is a Co-Chair of the Traffic Study and interested in regional traffic and land use issues. She has over 15 years experience in the preparation of environment documents under CEQA and NEPA. Annette grew up in the Westside Village area and bought her current home in 1995, but has also lived around the country and enjoys traveling. |

Melissa have been a resident of Los Angeles since 1976 and attended college here. She has lived in the Rancho Park/West of Westwood neighborhood since 1982 and purchased a home on Kelton Avenue in 1991. Melissa works in the fashion industry, representing "Thierry Rabotin", designer shoe line that is headquartered outside of Milan. Her seat #16 represents the non profit organizations in our neighborhood council district. She was nominated by Friends of Animals, a private no-kill animal shelter located on Sepulveda Blvd. Melissa has volunteered at this shelter for the past 13 years helping with animal care and adoptions as well as volunteer training and fundraising activities. We are always looking for new volunteers and good homes for our animals, so please feel free to contact me! Melissa serves on the Outreach and Public Safety and Traffic committees |

Jay Greenstein - |
|
Jay joined the staff for Councilmember Jack Weiss in September 2006 as a Senior Field Representative for the areas bounded by the City of Beverly Hills, Santa Monica Blvd., the 405 Freeway, the 10 Freeway, Overland Avenue and Pico Blvd. Jay also focuses on the long-term transportation needs of the Westside portions of Council District 5.
For nearly six years Jay was a Field Representative for State Assemblymember Paul Koretz representing the 42nd District. Jay served as the Assembly member’s district office point person on transportation and health care issues, and also spent time focusing on public education and public safety issues. He staffed the Assembly member’s
Health Care Advisory Committee. He directly served many of the Westside communities in the 42nd District that included Westwood, Brentwood, Bel Air, Hollywood, the Fairfax district, Hancock Park and the City of Beverly Hills. Jay has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from USC and a BA in Political Science from California State University, Northridge.
He is active in a number of Los Angeles community and political organizations. Jay is married to Pamela, who is a teacher in the Culver City Unified School District. They are parents to Jeremy and Emily.
